Babysitting...

This weekend Luke had his first babysitting experience. He watched Jake, who just turned 5....watched him for about 6 hours.....Great Job, Luke!!! Luke had a chance to play Army Men, Star Wars, Nerf gun wars and even got out Mr. Potato Head.....

The College boy was home....and I put him to work. I had Andrew and Ben chop some celery for this delicious casserole....Basil Chicken and Dumplings.....
Here they are....hard at work- but still having fun !!!

Squirrel!!!!!

Bella gave us a little surprise yesterday morning...... She went outside for awhile and came up to the patio doors with a squirrel in her mouth. She evidently scared it off of the birdfeeder, and then chased it and caught it before it ran to the woods. WOW! She's never done that before. She was so proud to show me her "catch". Good thing John was home and could dispose of the body....ewwww....

Crockpot Lasagna

This recipe is a family favorite.....

1 lb ground beef or turkey
1 med. onion, chopped
1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce (approx. 26 oz)
12 oz container cottage cheese
1/2 c. grated parmesan cheese
1 egg
12 oz lasagna noodles (no need to cook!)
12 oz shredded mozzarella cheese (reserve 1/2 cup)

Directions:

Brown meat and onion in skillet. Drain off fat. Add jar of spaghetti sauce and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes (if the sauce is too thick, you may want to add about a 1/2 cup of water to thin it). In a separate bowl, combine all the cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese (except reserved 1/2 cup) and the egg. Mix thoroughly. Spoon a layer of meat sauce onto the bottom of crock cooker. Add *two* layers of uncooked lasagna noodles (broken into small pieces to make them fit) and then top with cheese mixture. Repeat with sauce, noodles, and cheese mixture until all are used. Sprinkle reserved 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella on very top. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for approximately 3 hours.

Serves 6-8.

SPORTS

It was an all out "SPORTS" weekend..... 3 basketball games on Saturday, and a football game and another basketball game on Sunday.....I am sportsed out....

The Richfield Raider team had a big win on Saturday morning in a tournament. Luke had the game of his life.... He had a total of 24 points --- he shot and made SIX 3 pointers...... what a fun game to watch!! Unfortunately, the afternoon game didn't go as well for the boys.

Anna's game was as exciting as usual =) She ran up and down the court.....only readjusting her hair a few times..... Notice her left hand in the picture. That dainty little hand stays in that exact position while she is dribbling...too funny- she's ALL GIRL!! She did show some impressive left hand dribbling that even Daddy was noticing and applauding!!
I have to send a "get well soon" to Mr. Jonnie Wolf. One of our finest players who injured his knee in the last game of the tournament. I won't even go into the details about the fact that the referees kept the teams playing for over 30 seconds while Jonnie was laying on the floor in extreme pain.....ugh......good thing I had taken my blood pressure medicine.

and what can I say about the GREEN BAY PACKERS???? Well....hello Superbowl!!!!!

Math Nerd...

The 6th grade Math team won the Competition at our local high school this week. Luke was teased earlier this week and called a Math Nerd because he was a part of this team. Well, it's not so bad being a Math Nerd when there's a trophy involved.......

Finals week...

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are the last days of the semester for Ben....therefore, he is taking his finals.....Yesterday he had 3 tests. Evidently, it's very draining on the brain to study for that many tests and you need to wrap up in a blanket and watch a movie in order to decompress. As you can see, he has made himself at home on the couch, where he stayed for about 2 1/2 hours.

Ben is taking a Drawing class....I haven't seen much work come home. Today he brought a few pieces of artwork home.....here's one of them.....

This is my 1000th post....OMGoodness!!!

I took Mr. Andrew back to college yesterday.....it was a terribly snowy day, but we made it! I could tell that he was OK with being back with his buddies, living the college life. I will see him later in the week...his books didn't all arrive on time to our home, so I will deliver them =)

Here's another photo of campus...this is the Main Dining Hall and Campus Center--very snowy!!!

The Lady Comets

The only basketball game we attended this weekend was Anna's.....she's learning to be more aggressive- and she looks so darn cute in that little pony tail (she's #1)!!! The whole gang watched, including the brothers and Gma and Gpa. What a great cheering section!!

The other excitement was watching the Packers WIN!!! Lots of joyful cheering at the Peterson home as we were watching the game!

Andrew goes back to college today....after having about a month off. Lots of new classes to look forward to. Hope I can get him back...we're expecting 4 to 6 inches of snow today!!!

Remembering....

I was looking through some photos from last Spring and ran into this picture....we were in the middle of our kitchen remodel and were living in our basement while the front of our house was ripped apart....I guess it's not every day that you have a HUGE truck in your driveway!! All of the sacrificing was worth it....we LOVE our new kitchen!!!

Weekend...

Our weekend was mostly filled with basketball and more basketball....but, we did find time to watch a friend's pup.....This is Marlee....and he's a Labradoodle.....and he's ADORABLE!!!!
Personally, I think he looks like a stuffed animal that I had as a child....Le Mutt! Don't you think he looks like Le Mutt??

Bella loved playing with him....they played tug of war with one of Marlee's toys. (Please ignore the laundry hamper in the picture- I must keep folding while they play!)
John even had a soft spot in his heart for little Marlee....
On Sunday, we watched the Packer game. Some of us were so nervous that we knelt in front of the couch-- and some of us weren't quite so enthralled with the game......
It was a wonderful weekend!!!

Harlem Globetrotters

We loaded up the car and headed into the big city to see the Harlem Globetrotters!!! They always perform (play) in Milwaukee on New Years Eve...it's been a tradition for 83 years! We loved watching the antics....UP CLOSE....
We even saw Curly Neal, a retired Globetrotter.....
The team made many fabulous dunks and even a few 4 point shots.... yes, 4 point shots...
Here are the fabulous Globetrotter fans......too bad my camera focused only on Ben!!
