Minnie had a doggie spa day yesterday. I went to pick her up and she looked like a princess....all decked out in a fancy t-shirt, hair bow, and rhinestone collar..... I think the groomer enjoys dressing her up!! Have a great weekend!!!

Spelling Bee Runner-Up

I was scrolling down our school district website and saw this picture of Ben on the site. It said that he was the Spelling Bee runner-up....... hello? Did you forget to tell us, Ben?? Oh yeah, Ben told us this weekend that he got the lead in the 8th grade play.... glad he told us about that before the performance!!!! That's Ben.....he's a very interesting person....

Gma/Gpa Weekend...

We had so much fun with Grandma and Grandpa this weekend. Grandma and Anna had a duel in the middle of Michael's craft store.....sure glad they had on their protective hats.
Not sure what this interesting hat will do, but it's cute, don't ya think???

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREW!!!

Andrew had a birthday on Wednesday......he's 17 now.....impossible to believe!! He chose to eat at Texas Roadhouse for his b-day meal. As you can see he had a delicious baked potato,baked beans and some bbq ribs!!! When we got home we sang Happy Birthday to him as we enjoyed this yummy trifle.......no, Luke wouldn't even look at it or taste it....it has cherry pie filling in it....ewww.....I guess it was his loss.....It was WONDERFUL!!

Especially for Grandma Ellie....

While we were visiting UW- Whitewater, we entered the "ballroom" for a presentation. Just outside of the ballroom was this beautiful piece of artwork......
As John and I looked a little closer, we noticed that this artwork was really amazing....John's Mom does this type of woodworking....called intarsia. In my opinion it is a combination of woodworking and putting together a puzzle. Each piece is cut from a different type of wood and then they're all put together to make a "picture". I KNOW this takes a lot of time, effort and talent......it was amazing!!! So, here you go, Grandma Ellie, click on the picture and check out all of the detail........

Road Trip

John, Andrew and I took a road trip to UW-Whitewater on Friday to tour the campus and get information. We all had such a great time...we found that Whitewater has a great School of Education and Business School too. Here is a "bun- shot" John and Andrew on campus...
On Saturday morning, John and I took off for an overnight getaway to our cottage in central WI. We left the boys at home and Anna went to stay with a friend of hers :) We didn't want her to have to be held captive with all of that testosterone that was surging in our house with all of those boys.

Anyway, we arrived at our "Chalet" and John built us a fire.....
during dinner, we saw fireworks from our deck......it was "Snowblast" weekend at Lake Arrowhead.... How cool was that?? Fireworks in February....
There wasn't enough snow to cross country ski.....can you see the sandtrap on the golf course?
On the way home we stopped at a little cafe....a very interesting cafe...
We each had a bowl of soup. Then we split a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie ala mode. Top that off with John's cup of java and my glass of water and the bill came to a whopping $8. You can't beat that!!!! Everyone had a great time this weekend!!!!

Birthday for Jill

I had a great birthday yesterday. I took the kids to school and had a nice shopping spree at Target, served lunch at school and went out for dinner with my family. I didn't do any dishes or laundry or cleaning, which was fun for me :) Here we are with full bellies, getting ready to head home from the restaurant......
We came home and opened gifts....Anna even wrapped her own gift for me....
Here was the home-made gift......she said it was something I could set my drink on.....
Here I am with my cake........white cake.....mmmmmmm

I am one blessed lady....

Tasty Thursday...Easy Peanut Butter Cookies

Peanut butter cookies (flour-less)
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
Bake 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees

Really easy recipe for cookies....I would double or triple the recipe. Enjoy!

Home Remodeling Show

On Sunday, John and I had a "date" and went to a Home Remodeling show. While we were there they had a few different seminars going on. One was a cooking demonstration and one was a seminar on the "ABC's of Green" Decorating. Shari Hiller and Matt Fox from HGTV's "Room by Room" were there.....what a fun and halarious duo. We enjoyed watching them !

A Heat Wave

Our weather was beautiful this weekend....a real heatwave on Saturday...up to 47 degrees! Andrew even wore shorts and a tee shirt to take the ACT on Saturday morning!! Silly man!! We had several ballgames and a practice, and a fun girl scout event for Anna and her friend, Madison.
Saturday night John grilled steaks and we relaxed by the fire and watched our favorite concert on DVD....The Eagles!
Sunday morning I was greeted with a lovely breakfast....made by John..... cinnamon french toast and omelets....mmmmm.
We went to church Sunday and then headed down to the Home Improvement Show at State Fair Park where we met the people who will be remodeling our kitchen. Very Exciting for us!! We even saw some celebrities at the show.....more on that tomorrow :)

OK, Minnie actually had 9 baby teeth extracted yesterday because they did not fall out on their own. She was also spayed yesterday too.....it was a rough day.

Tasty Thursday...Chicken Fiesta Dip

Our church cookbook has the best recipes....here's one of them....

Chicken Fiesta Dip
2 cans (13 oz.) chicken breast
2 cups of salsa
2 cups shredded cheese
1/2 package dry taco seasoning
1 small can, chopped black olives

Mix all ingredients together and heat in microwave. Transfer to a small crockpot to keep warm. Serve with tortilla chips.
