Warhawk Tennis Camp
The boys went to Tennis Camp at UW-Whitewater for the week. They got to stay in the dorms, and eat dorm food, etc. During the week they had various tournaments....a singles tournament and doubles too. On Thursday night they headed over to the student union and all went bowling, had pizza and then had a talent show.....no, Ben chickened out on doing his "belly trick."
The boys worked hard EVERY day...they arose at 7am and were on the courts from 8:30-11:30, then lunch, and back at the courts by 1:15..until 4:30...then dinner...then, back on the courts again from 6:30-9:45pm. That's a LOT of tennis!!!! Needless to say, they fell into bed each night and slept well (even without air conditioning.)
When we picked them up on Friday afternoon, it was raining, and the program was moved to the field house. We got there in time to see the "program and award ceremony." We watch them go through "high intensity," a fast paced, fun way to practice some of their tennis skills.
Then we moved on to the award ceremony. Ben's group was up first and he was awarded "singles champion " in his group...... what an honor...

Next, Andrew's coach got up and gave out the awards for the week. Andrew and his tennis partner had won the doubles championship.....so they got their awards too. (sorry, poor quality picture)

and at the end of the program they gave out a couple of medals to athlete's that had really made the most out of the camp......these were very rare medals to get..... and Mr. Andrew was picked again.....Cool!!!
Well, I would consider this camp a success, considering we were on a waiting list until just 5 days before camp started, and it was a fluke that they even were chosen to go....... guess that it was just "meant to be."

Our weekend started off on Friday when we picked up these two from Tennis Camp. It was so good to see them and have them home!!! (more details tomorrow)Anna and Luke went to Day Camp all week, so they were exhausted by Friday. Here's a picture of Luke at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday night. This was taken in our recliner in the Family Room. (with the favorite animal blanket)

Saturday, Andrew was in a doubles tennis tournament in Hartford. The tournament was delayed because of heavy rain, but they continued at noon. Well, wouldn't you just figure.....he and his doubles partner WON their division!! He must have loved beating his own JV tennis coach in the tournament!!! Anyway, here he is...in his first match...
Saturday night we went to a Mexican restaurant and had some yummy guacamole.....my favorite...
Sunday, we went out for a delicious brunch and then relaxed the rest of the day....isn't this a great way to end the weekend????
