Egyptian Project

Well, here's the end result of the Egyptian project...... Four sixth grade boys worked on this for a few weeks with absolutely no help or guidance from an adult. (I held myself back!) As you can clearly see, a wonderful tongue depressor pyramid with workers all around....and yes, it even has a sarcophagus inside.... and then you see the river running through the land. You can also see another pyramid being built in the upper left corner....and then LOTS of sand all over.......my table and floor!!

Field Trip

Anna's class took a field trip last week to a Nature Center and it was sure windy that day with outbursts of rain, but we managed to hike and learn about nature in spite of the weather. We learned about animals that are native to our area and we spotted quite a few squirrel nests.
We climbed up a tall tower, to the 40 ft. level...it was too dangerous in the high winds to climb higher.....
We could see Lake Michigan from the top of the tower....and it was beautiful!!
and we could see the forest floor from the top of the tower too....which gave me the creeps !!!!
The students had lots of questions and were very interested in learning about and experiencing nature!! It was a great field trip!!

IOWA

We were IOWA bound for the past 4 days.....to visit this nice lady (Grandma) and Grandpa too!!
We were kept very busy.....bowling....and yes, Grandma Ellie almost won!!! John beat her by 2 pins!!! Here's John throwing his famous "curving" bowling ball......
We looked at the Mighty Mississippi River at "Mosquito Park."
We went to the Burlington Historical Museum, where Luker had too much fun pretending he was a homesteader......
and most importantly, we celebrated this guy's 12th birthday.....
