Visitors

Our friends, The Dykstra's came to visit from Chicago. The visit was too short, but it was wonderful...they are such good friends. John and Tom were friends and classmates at the University of Iowa and Wendy and I became friends because we were always stuck with each other while the guys went golfing. It turns out that Wendy and I had quite a bit in common and really enjoyed each other's company. I might even go as far to say that we are probably closer friends than the guys are now (at least we talk more often.)
Our kids call each other "cousins" and always have a blast together. Here they are in the boys bedroom playing Guitar Hero....and singing very badly, I might add....
The guys went golfing (imagine that), and the kids, Wen and I had a little lunch on the patio....it was such a gorgeous day....now, who invited the bees???

An Odd sort of weekend....
John took the 2 younger kids up north this weekend, and I stayed back with the big guys....we had a fun weekend of watching episodes of "The Office", running errands, tennis and it's amazing what household chores can get done if you promise to take them out for lunch. Wow, I'll have to use that one more often......it's worth it!!!Yes, I had lunch too....chicken noodle soup......
We have friends visiting from the Chicago Area, so there's lots of video gaming with the boys, lots of talking with the adults, and there's lots of this with the girlies.... SO FUN!

Road trip to Burlington, Iowa
Sorry for the lack of a new posting yesterday, but we were on a trip home from Iowa! We visited John's parent's before the school year started...
Here we are, crossing the bridge from Illinois to Iowa.... here's the "H" bridge....the "H" is for HELLO!
We had a nice dinner at The Drake...a lovely restaurant on the Mississippi River... the boys ordered ribs....I had the Catfish...YUM!
Anna had the pasta, with NO SAUCE......just butter and salt....
We relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful view from my in-law's living room....
and then we traveled back home.......
Stay tuned tomorrow for First Day of School Photos......
