After Christmas dinner, some of the older men left the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and moved back into the sunroom for a little rest, relaxation and some doggie snuggling!!

Organization 101 by Ben

When you go to school, you have many different subjects to study.......what you really need, is to have just 1 folder. This one folder holds EVERYTHING for ALL classes. Who really cares if it's 3 inches thick, you just haul 1 folder home....why complicate things????

King of the Kitchen

Andrew has been watching a t.v. show called Iron Chef....it inspired him to make dinner for us. WOW! Last night he made Pecan crusted chicken breasts and sweet baby carrots....it was awesome!!
and the kids even cleaned up the dishes....unbelievable!!! Of course there was a little goofing off as they cleaned up!!!!

School Music Concert

The day of Andrew's surgery, Anna had a band concert.....fortunately I made it back to the school just in time for her afternoon performance.... the kids weren't dressed up like they would have been if I had gone to the evening concert, but it was still a GREAT concert!! Here's a (blurry) picture of Anna tooting her clarinet!!!
You wouldn't even believe all of the toe tapping that was going on by the band members....hilarious!!

Surgery

Andrew had surgery last Thursday....so, we have been busy making sure that he is doing well and behaving.... Here are some pictures from his thyroidectomy....

This picture was taken just as he had gotten out of the recovery room. Evidently, the ride was a little rocky, thus the barf bucket on his bed.
Here he is, a few hours later....glued to the teenie tiny televison in the corner of the room. Yes, he was starting to be ravenous at this point. Right after this, I think he ordered a PBJ, yogurt and a pudding.....
He certainly did NOT like this.....the IV that they kept attached to him. I told him that it was such a cute accessory.
and hide your eyes if you're squeemish, but the doctor took a photo of his thyroid after it was taken out.......because I knew you were curious, here it is.....

and what did I see outside my window the other day.....this guy.......a Cooper's Hawk, just waiting for a bird to come to the feeder.....I hope he's not waiting for Minnie!!!

Tournament

Over the last few weeks, Luke's basketball team has been in a local tournament. Well, this weekend was the Championship game and our team made it to the finals!! Too bad we didn't win...but the team is learning more after each game...and it's a pretty cool team trophy and medal!!

What???

When Andrew was home a few weeks ago, I took a look at some of the homework that he was working on......OH. MY. GOODNESS........this looks like some sort of foreign language to me....so glad I didn't have to take this class in college!!! 5 days until Andrew is home for a MONTH!!!!

Christmas 1990

I ran into this photo the other day... it was a couple of days after Christmas in 1990. This photo was taken at our rehearsal dinner - our wedding was the next day!! The notes by the picture said "I was so nervous at the dinner that I could hardly eat....but John finished my dinner!"
