Raiders Win!

Last night was our 6th grade teams first game. It was an away game...in Neosho....way out in the country!! The opposing team was a combined 5th/6th grade team...with just 8 players.
Last year when we played this team, there were plenty of illegal hits and the team players were just plain nasty to our players. This is one of the uncalled fouls that Luke got last year....
Well, this year was quite different.... the players weren't aggressive at all!! They struggled to even hold onto the ball. We ended up winning 41-3. Here are some shots from the game....

Leftovers!!

We had SO MANY leftovers from our big Thanksgiving feast that we had another meal for dinner the next night.....here are the leftovers...really?? Did we eat ANYTHING?? I know for sure that all of my boys went back at least twice to refill their plate on Thanksgiving day!!
The rest of the weekend we spent decorating for Christmas.......

Hat's off to the cook.....Mrs. Sue Mackey!!! Our dinner was wonderful and the day was fun and relaxing....perfect!! As you can see, we clearly did not starve on Thanksgiving and we have plenty of leftovers for tonight's dinner!!

The boys were pigs, as usual, and thoroughly enjoyed ALL of the food. Yes, that's Luke in his winter coat.....he was running a fever and had a sore throat...I guess you do whatever you have to, to stay warm......
We relaxed after dinner....a.k.a. Turkey coma....and the majority of the crowd caught a few winks while others played on their electronic doo-hickys.....
oh yes, and there was a dog party.....with lots of drool and barks.....
and of course, the all important.... Grandpa snuggling.....

It was the best seat in the house!!!!

A driver....

I forgot to mention that this guy not only celebrated his birthday last Friday, he also passed his driver's road test....so, he has his license now!!! Just seeing his face (the big grin) as he walked into the DMV after his road test was priceless!!!

Birthday Weekend!!

Friday night we celebrated Ben's birthday by going to his favorite restaurant - La Chimenea. I guess they overheard that it was his birthday so they came out and plopped this huge sombrero on him and sang to him. He really enjoyed it AND the sundae that they brought out too!!

Our friends came up from Chicago and Anna had her own special manicurist.....thanks, Laura!!
We have a special doggie friend staying with us this week too.....Marlee Sue.....(pictures to come)

Well, it's that time of the year....the Cedar Waxwings are stopping by to eat all the berries off of the trees.... They are so beautiful!!!

Wordless Wednesday- Playgroup Friends

Raider Madness....

Raider Madness was so fun!! Here's the 6th grade team that John will coach.....you can see Luke, he's #24, 4th from the right. This was a game where ankles were tied together and they had to make it to half court before the girl's 6th grade team. As you can imagine, the first time anyone moved almost the whole row of players fell down. It was a hard task for them!!!

Students got a chance to "mummify" a teacher.....this is Mr. Mierow, the Math teacher.....he also coaches the the 8th grade boys team.
Some of the parents got involved in the games, too. Here's one Mom who was shooting baskets in her high heeled boots.....
and here's John during the pie eating contest....this year they had to find a single gummy worm in the pie and pull it out.....

Weekend!!

The weekend started on Friday night, with a HUGE pep rally for our basketball teams......Here are John, Luke and Anna with the Wolf boys.... too bad Luke threw up about 30 minutes after this picture was taken.....
On Saturday, Anna and I had a "girlie" day.....while the boys went to basketball practice (Luke was at home), Anna and I had lunch at Panera bread company and then went shopping at Michaels Craft store. She found lots of Christmas ideas there, but I couldn't resist buying her a counted cross stitch..... So, she spent the rest of the afternoon crafting....

We had some beautiful visitors to the feeder yesterday....I thought this woodpecker was well coordinated with the berries in the background......
