More chalet weekend pics

John walked with the dogs in the early mornings....they were tired pups...

Because of his knee surgery, Ben was unable to swim, play tennis, golf, etc. He sat on the deck with his music and read a book!

John grilled for us on Sunday night...steak and burgers...delicious!

John decided not to shave for a few days....ewwww.....he couldn't even stand himself with all of the whiskers!

Ben's knee update

Here's a picture of Ben's knee from last weekend....pretty bruised up and starting to look very colorful!  The steri-strips are beginning to fall off now.  I noticed the interesting collection of blood in his heel area.  I guess the blood had to go somewhere and gravity helped it!!

Ben's been going to physical therapy a couple of times a week.  He's doing so well that they've moved him to only having therapy once a week and he only needs to walk with one crutch!!  I'm hoping that he will be able to drive next week sometime, but I'm not going to rush it.  Here he is working out on the bike!

Andrew and Courtney...Engaged!!

Our whole family went up north this weekend and Andrew proposed to his girlfriend, Courtney.  He took her on a hike, to the top of a sledding hill and proposed on the top of the "mountain."  She said YES!  He called me and then I drove over, climbed the hill and snapped a few pictures!!  Priceless!!  They're hoping to get married in May or June of 2014...

The new knee

Don't get excited...this is the bad knee....before the surgery....before it was shaved....and don't worry, I won't be showing you a pic of the leg after the surgery....so keep on reading...

Here's a picture of the cute stockings that he wore and is still wearing...oh yes, and the beautiful socks with the grips on the bottom!

During the surgery, the doctor found and repaired 2 tears in the meniscus and reconstructed his ACL using one of his hamstring tendons.
Here he is right after the surgery....looking good, eating food....and then he threw up, and kept throwing up.

Here we are back home and he's made a little nest on the couch.  He's got his leg in a C. P. M. machine...it keeps his knee moving, 23 hours a day!  (Continuous Passive Motion Machine) Little Minnie wanted to lay by him but there wasn't any room!!

Here's a closer look at the C.P.M machine...

The doctor said that Ben is looking at a 6-9 month rehab schedule....whew!!! Last night Ben said the most pain is where the doc took out the hamstring tendon...OUCH!
